Come as you are and join us in-person, each Sunday at 10am for worship and fellowship.

Bring the children! We have a special message for your children and grandchildren during Worship. And after they hear the Children’s Message, they can stay in the sanctuary OR go to Children’s Church. There will be an age appropriate Bible lesson from the Grow Kids Curriculum, craft and activities.

You can watch previous services and videos on our Facebook page and  YouTube channel.

Sundays & Christmas Eve

In December

Advent & Christmas Seasons

  • On Sunday, December 1, we began our Advent season. Each Sunday, at 10am, we will be lighting our Advent candles and singing songs of the season. Join us as we anticipate and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ each Sunday at 10am.

  • Dedicate a little of your time on Christmas Eve to worship Jesus.  Come early to our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.  At 4:45pm., our musicians will be playing Christmas songs and carols.  During our service, we will light candles and have glow sticks for the children. Christopher Taylor will play the violin, as we prepare our hearts for the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. We will also share Holy Communion. A gluten-free option is always available.

Please use the sanctuary entrance that faces Stockley Gardens

Messy Church at Ghent

  • See photos from our 2024 Living Nativity by going to our Facebook page.
  • Bring a friend or two on January 12 at 4:30pm for MOVIE NIGHT! Meet us in our hall for a family-friendly movie, chips and dip.
  • Do you love capturing special moments and bringing joy to others? Messy Church is seeking an individual to be our photographer! Your role will involve snapping photos during our exciting events and sharing them with our office to help us document the fun and memories.
  • Additionally, we are also in need of a new or gently used Bluetooth speaker to enhance our gatherings and create a lively atmosphere. If you are willing to help with either of these, please email the church office asap at office@ghentumc.org or tell Melanie C. or Rev. Ryan.

* Messy Church is a DIFFERENT kind of church! It typically includes a welcome, creative time to explore the Biblical theme through “getting messy” with crafts and activities; a short interactive celebration time involving a story, prayer, and music; and a sit-down meal together at tables. The entire experience is designed for people of ALL AGES! Take a look at our Facebook group page to see previous events.

Want to Sing or play?

If you would like to sing with us on Sundays, let our Music Director know.

There are also musical opportunities, if you want to play an instrument. The Gathering Jam Band meets 15 minutes before the service on the second Sundays and plays through the service that day. We also provide the music for Messy Church services.  If you don’t play an instrument, come out and play the maracas or other hand percussion. Let Nellwyn Beamon know if you have any questions.

Covid-19 Mitigation Plan

*COVID-19 Mitigation Plan (Updated March 23, 2022) – For all in-person Ghent UMC Happenings:

Remember that our call is to love our neighbors and to do no harm. The VA UMC recommends that everyone, who is eligible, be vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.

  • For everyone, whether vaccinated or not, wearing face masks is currently optional; although children under 2 years of age should not wear a mask.
  • At least 6 feet of physical distancing must be maintained by everyone (we understand this may not be possible for children), except for those who are in the same household group. Hugs and handshakes are not allowed.
  • All are required to stay home when sick. After 5 days of quarantining, you are to wear a fitted mask for 5 additional days when around others.
  • Lastly, we ask everyone to self-check in at each entrance with our Health Acknowledgement Poster. To read the poster, click here
