In John 6:35, Christ tells us "I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." So we seek to share the Good News of Christ to all who hunger and thirst spiritually. In Matthew 25:31-46, Christ tells a parable about the importance of reaching out in His name to those who are physically hungry, thirsty, in need of companionship or clothing. He tells us, "...whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
So we reach out to the least, the last, and the lost. Some of the ways we reach out:
Used Book Sale during Fall and Spring Stockley Gardens Arts Festivals (and parking lot fundraiser) - In the fall and spring we hold a used book sale (and parking lot fundraiser) as an outreach to the community and to help raise funds for our Vacation Bible School, and other children and youth ministries; as well as UMC missions.
Operation Christmas Child - Each year we assemble shoeboxes with toys and gifts for needy children around the world. In 2016 the church sent 38 shoe boxes to children in need around the world.
